- Credit card bills
- Automobile deficiencies balances
- Mortgage deficiency balances
- Personal loans
- Taxes more than three years old
It is important to note that some types of debt are not erased with the Chapter 7 bankruptcy. For example, student loans and unpaid taxes that are within the past three years remain. Individuals are allowed to file for only one Chapter 7 within an eight-year period. If you have filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy within that eight-year period, you may be required to file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy. The Chapter 7 bankruptcy process can take up to six months to complete. However, once you file, the automatic stay goes into effect. This automatic stay prevents your creditors from getting a judgment against you, repossessing your vehicle, foreclosing on your house, and making harassing phone calls. I Can Help You through the ProcessWhen you call my office, we will set up an appointment for a free telephone consultation. During this consultation I will ask a few questions and you can explain your situation to me. Then, at our in-person meeting we can discuss options that are available to you to reduce and/or eliminate your debt. I will help you formulate a plan and guide you through each step of the process. With bankruptcy, there is potentially a great amount of detail required and work involved to prepare the petition for bankruptcy and to proceed through the steps.
