Will Bankruptcy Get Rid of All my Debts?
Not all Debt is Dischargeable
Bankruptcy will eliminate most of your unsecured debt. These are debts that push most people into bankruptcy—credit card debt, medical bills, personal loans, collection accounts, and court judgments.
Debts you can't discharge in bankruptcy include alimony, child support, and income taxes incurred in the last 3 years. Student loans can be discharged, but only under circumstances that are difficult for most borrowers to meet.
